Happy Holidays to each of You!

Wishing you and yours the very best this Holiday season. Take time to relax and just enjoy being around your friends and family without a deadline hanging over your head.

Each of you brought a lot of new creativity to the classroom this semester and as I've said before it's a great joy and pleasure to share time discussing art and design with each of you. A Professor couldn't ask for a better class for sure.

I'll be around all break so if you need anything just give a yell.
Happy Holidays!

Art Basel: Graduate Students at AQUA showing their work in Miami

I was lucky enough to travel on Friday and Saturday to visit the Art Basel annual event in Miami and got to see a large group of our grad students from GSU showing their work at Aqua. It was fantastic to see their work among the throngs of other international artist. Again, always wonderful to see my students doing so well with their accomplishments and their passion in design and art.

Their work has been well received and many of the grad students sold their work at this event. It's the first year that such has happened in our grad program so it was a nice way for me to view their work in the environment of Art Basel. If you haven't seen the catalog you need to as it was produced in-house at GSU.

Graphic Design MFA students, Jim Chapman, Cat Normoyle and Meta Gary were represented there among the other disciplines from GSU.

Whats Due on Tuesday December 6th

Final Critique on the Calendar project will take place on Tuesday December 6th at 2:30.

Please bring this final project to class along with a CD/DVD of all the work you've done in Advanced Typography for the semester. I prefer a pdf version but any will do.
You can also include sketches/secondary designs and anything you feel might reveal the work and creativity you put into the semester that went un-noticed.

This includes original work you turned in for critiques as well as any revisions.
Please note "revision" on the pdf/png/jpeg you put on your CD/DVD.

Remember: No CD/DVD, No Final Grade.

Please finish up your blog assignments which should be 13 Blog Assignments:
-5 pieces of your work
-Good and Bad Design.
-Contemporary trends in graphic design
-Artistic work that truly inspires you as an artist.
-“Block of Type”
-Personal Workspace.
-Books, Periodicals, Printed materials
-“Each week I feel as though I must check in at/with…”
-Day in the Life
-Archiving Images on Flickr
-Best in T-Shirt Design:
-Find your own series of posters that visually communicate an idea that is important
-Compilation of your favorite Album artwork.

Make sure your CD/DVD is labeled and in an envelope/case.

The Official Wine/Olive Oil Critique: Part II

Great job to each of you during this assignment for creating work that was fresh and well crafted. Some of you needed a little more time to invest in your concepts and/or production but overall the work was some of the best I've seen in many, many years. I kid you not. I support I have for each of you is unconditional.
